Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Huawei, Alvarion, Nokia

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

    Cellular

  • Caribbean: Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. said it won a contract to deliver a CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network in the Caribbean for Digicel Group.
    WiMAX
  • Japan: Alvarion Ltd. said it deployed its BreezeACCESS VL system to NTT West Corp. Okinawa Branch Group.
  • Russia: Enforta said it plans to expand its broadband wireless network to six additional cities, including Voronezh, Lipetsk, Penza, Samara, Tula and Yaroslavl. The company uses equipment from Alvarion Ltd. and Infinet Wireless.
  • United States: Nokia Corp. said it won a contract from Sprint Nextel Corp. to provide WiMAX infrastructure covering four markets in Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and Austin. Also in the United States, Towerstream said it launched WiMAX service in Miami.
    Wi-Fi
  • United States: Guest-Tek Interactive Entertainment Ltd. said it completed an agreement to provide OneView Internet service and support to all corporate-owned Hyatt Place hotels. Hyatt Place offers complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout its properties.
    Miscellaneous
  • Germany: Alcatel-Lucent said it is demonstrating mobile TV services in the country.
