    • Fans of the Oregon State Beavers can enjoy better connectivity at Reser Stadium with the recent installation of a distributed antenna system by AT&T. According to officials, AT&T customers alone are using 145Gb of mobile data each game; that amounts to more than 415,000 social media posts with pictures.
    • In Alaska, General Communications Group has announced plans to acquire Alaska Communication Group’s customers base and stake in the two firms’ joint venture Alaska Wireless Network Partnership. The deal is valued at $300 million and is set to close in the first quarter of 2015. Alaska Communication Group has some 109,000 wireless customers.
    • The Iranian telecommunications minister announced that the country is developing a system that will identify every single person who accesses the Internet in that country, according to the International Business Times. He said the so-called “smart filtering” will be online within the next six months. Iran set up a special Internet police until in 2011 to curb cyber crimes and track social media activity.
    • In test and measurement news, Azimuth systems announced a new radio network emulation platform called ACE RNX. The new product is designed to support advanced testing configurations for small cells, hetnets, carrier aggregation and 3D beamforming. Azimuth reps said ACE RNX can provide a future-proof platform that can facilitate testing during the development, qualification and deployment of next generation wireless technology.
