Sprint opens South Central Region headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas, as part of ongoing corporate restructuring program
Sprint recently opened its newly renovated South Central Region headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas, which is set to house the carrier’s consumer and business sales, marketing and finance space.
The carrier said the move is part of a previously announced job expansion in Arkansas that is to include up to 100 new positions across the state. Sprint said it currently counts more than 230 employees across Arkansas.
Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure last November announced plans to restructure the carrier’s regional operations as part of a larger cost-saving move. The carrier is to be represented by four regions, with a further focus on 18 regional areas.
The four regions include west, central, northeast and south, with those region headquarters spread among Los Angeles, Kansas City, New York City and Atlanta. Little Rock represents the headquarters for one of the 18 regional areas that is part of the greater south region, which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Central Texas.
Sprint has been looking to trim costs through corporate restructuring, job cuts and modifications to its network buildout. During its most recent reporting quarter, which ended its 2015 fiscal year, the carrier said it managed to trim $1.3 billion in cost of services and selling, general, and administrative expenses in fiscal year 2015, which is part of an overall plan to trim $2 billion in overall yearly expenses. The carrier said it expects to hit that mark exiting fiscal 2016, with one quarter coming each from operating expenses and capital expenses.
