HPE debuts OneView 4.0
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) recently announced it has updated its OneView software, version 4.0, with a focus on streamlining data center management and operations, and simplifying hybrid IT. In addition, the company debuted a string of new cloud management partners that have combined their software with the RESTful API provided in HPE OneView.
OneView is an infrastructure management software product that oversees the day-to-day lifecycle of HPE infrastructure. In particular, HPE OneView leverages software-defined intelligence and an unified API for managing data centers. According to a study conducted by IDC, companies using HPE OneView have more than tripled the number of physical servers managed per server from 77 to 235, a 206% increase based on time spent “keeping the lights on.”
The newest version of OneView brings several systems into a single environment using its unified API to provide full programmability and deep integrations with third-party tools. In particular, OneView 4.0 ties together traditional IT with private and public clouds to make it easier to launch and manage hybrid IT.
Hybrid IT has grown in popularity in recent years for companies that want to benefit from the cloud but are not ready to abandon their traditional infrastructure. A report published by marketsandmarkets predicts the hybrid cloud market will swell from $33.28 billion in 2016 to $91.74 Billion by 2021, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 22.5% during the forecast period.
According to the company, the latest version of OneView will enable users to pump out applications and services quicker, in addition to simplifying lifecycle operations with non-disruptive firmware updates. HPE Synergy customers can update interconnect firmware without disrupting application performance. Moreover, HPE has added a two-factor authentication to OneView 4.0 in which two security systems must be passed to obtain information. Moreover, OneView 4.0 incorporated support for SNMPv3 protocol to boost security for monitoring server hardware and interconnect.
Among the new cloud management partners that have integrated RESTful API provided in OneView into their software include Morpheus Data, CANCOM and InContinuum. The company expects OneView 4.0 will be available this December.
