Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nokia Siemens, Motorola, Alcatel-Lucent and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Serbia: Telekom Srbija has chosen Nokia Siemens to extend its GSM and 3G W-CDMA network with HSPA functionality.
WiMAX
–Bahrain: Mena Telecom chose Motorola Inc. to plan, deploy and manage a nationwide 802.16e-based mobile WiMAX and IP Multimedia Subsystem network in the kingdom of Bahrain.
Miscellaneous
–Latvia: Alcatel-Lucent announced a three-year framework agreement with Lattelcom to extend the carrier’s broadband DSL services to Latvia’s rural areas using its microwave solution.
–United States: EFJ Inc. said its EFJohnson subsidiary won a $5.5 million contract from the county of Maui to re-band Maui’s 800 MHz first-responder communications system. Also in the United States, ERF Wireless said its Enterprise Network Services Subsidiary entered a multimillion-dollar, ten-year contract with Iberville Bank in Louisiana to use the bank’s excess bandwidth and wireless infrastructure to provide wireless Internet service products to the bank’s customers.
–West Africa: Harris Stratex Networks Inc. said it has been selected to extend the access and backbone networks for a large mobile operator in West Africa. The deal is valued at $11.7 million.
