Ericsson, Siemens win UMTS orders in Greece

MUNICH, Germany-L.M. Ericsson and Siemens AG both signed agreements with Panafon Greek Telecommunications Co. to supply its UMTS network. The companies did not release the values of the contracts.

Ericsson will supply the core network and engineering and consultancy services.

Siemens will begin setting up the network for the Vodafone Group plc subsidiary in Greece in the third quarter. Siemens said it is its first contract with Vodafone Greece. Siemens said the first phase of the network will cover Athens and be ready by end-2003.
