Telefónica taps NetCracker to update BSS platform across LatAm

Deal calls for NetCracker to update BSS in seven Telefónica markets

International telecom giant Telefónica selected NetCracker Technology to update its business support systems supporting seven Latin American operations.

The deal calls for NetCracker to implement a “large-scale, multi-phase BSS and customer experience transformation program” that is said to include replacing existing billing systems in favor of new product catalogs, ordering and “omni-channel” customer relationship management platforms. NetCracker said the implementation will include service fulfillment and multiple BSS domains including customer care, self-service, ordering, product management, point-of-sale, billing, mediation, collections and partner management.

The move is part of a broader push by Telefónica to update its BSS platforms to be standardized across operations in order to more efficiently serve enterprise and consumer markets.

“NetCracker’s pre-integrated BSS suite will enable our organization to improve customer experience and reduce time-to-market,” said Phil Jordan, group CIO at Telefónica, in a statement. “NetCracker’s implementation methodology will also help us standardize our systems and processes across multiple operators.”

NetCracker earlier this week announced a move with parent company NEC to help telecom operator Swisscom complete the build out of ICT capabilities designed to help the carrier migrate its fixed, mobile, TV and broadband services to NetCracker’s Service Fulfillment platform. The vendors said the move would allow Swisscom to tap into the platform’s provisioning capabilities and speed the time-to-market for new services.
