OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Nextel Corp.’s local communications company, which is scheduled to be spun off from the rest of the company in the second quarter, has selected its name and logo.
Embarq, which will officially be known as Embarq Corp., expects to trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol EQ. Its logo depicts three sharp-angled, connected green triangles. According to Sprint Nextel, Embarq “plans to integrate products and offers in ways that make sense to customers.”
“The company’s new name, Embarq, and logo are meant to signal the way we will do business and establish what a next-generation local communications company can be,” said Daniel Hesse, who was recently named Embarq’s chief executive officer. “This is a company that will be aggressive and innovative in the marketplace, and the new name and logo … is the brand we want customers to remember.”
