A1 Austria is working with Nokia to deploy private LTE and 5G networks for enterprises in Austria. The pair have already worked together to deploy private wireless campus networks in Austria for Vienna Airport, automotive manufacturer Magna Steyr, and a government-funded 5G Playground in the south of the country.
The pair have signed a three-year deal, where Nokia will supply radio and core networking, plus network automation and support services, for all A1 Austria’s private LTE and 5G deployments. The deal covers core network technologies to handle 5G slicing of the operator’s public network, too, plus network-related automation and artificial intelligence (AI) functions.
A1 Austria said it will make 5G slicing available to enterprises nationwide. Nokia said it will offer operational support and care to meet “even the most challenging” service level agreements (SLAs) and quality of services (QoS) requirements. A1 Austria said: “Private wireless networks are ideal for the business-critical communication requirements of factories, logistic hubs, and other enterprise verticals along with public safety organizations.”
Alexander Stock, chief technology officer at A1 Austria, said: “This deal reinforces the long-standing collaboration between A1 and Nokia, including an agreement to expand next-generation 5G mobile communications in Austria. A1 is now a clear leader in enterprise in Austria and, together with Nokia as its technology partner, we are looking forward to quickly rolling out new deployments.”
Friedrich Trawöger, head of managed services at Nokia, said: “As operators diversify their portfolios… to digitalize industries, Nokia is in place to deliver proven expertise in the deployment and operation of business-critical private network solutions. We have had significant success on a number of executed projects with A1 in Austria and this deal will further position both companies as leaders in the private LTE and 5G domain.”
The pair said the global private LTE and 5G market will triple by 2025, citing research from Mobile Experts.
