Mohan Gyani, who served as president at AT&T Wireless Services, joins board at Argyle Data, which focuses on Hadoop-powered big data analytics solutions
Another former wireless carrier executive has popped up in a new location, as former AT&T executive Mohan Gyani has joined the board of directors at Argyle Data, which focuses on big data and machine-learning analytics for mobile carriers.
The move brings considerable mobile industry experience to Argyle Data, which taps its native Hadoop application suite in targeting revenue fraud losses using big data. The company claims the global telecom market loses $38 billion per year to fraud-related issues.
“Argyle Data will benefit greatly from Mohan’s unique insights into the mobile carrier business and extensive industry relationships,” said Vikash Varma, president and CEO at Argyle Data. “We are very pleased to welcome him on board.”
Gyani served as president of AT&T Wireless Services between 2000 and 2003, having replaced former President Dan Hesse, who went on to eventually lead Sprint. Gyani left AWS with a $2.9 million severance package, which included him staying on as a consultant to the company for two years. Gyani, who had previously served as CFO at AirTouch Communications, was succeeded at AT&T Wireless Services by Michael Keith.

Former Sprint CFO Joe Euteneuer last month joined Rivada Networks as co-CEO and CFO Americas. Rivada is looking to be a significant player in the federal government’s First Responder Network Authority process having earlier this week announced a handful of vendor partners. Euteneuer, who left his position as CFO at Sprint last August amidst numerous management changes at the beleaguered carrier, was replaced by current CFO Tarek Robiaiti.
