Softbank deploys Procera platform in move to enhance LTE services
Procera Networks scored a significant carrier deal, announcing Japan’s Softbank had deployed its PacketLogic platform in order to enhance LTE services.
Procera said it secured the deal by providing “subscriber experience” visibility on top of the existing mobile analytics services provided by the legacy vendor. The deployment was conducted in partnership with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions, which is providing the system and deployment designs using Procera’s platform. Financial terms of the deployment were not released.
Softbank, which in 2013 acquired a controlling stake in domestic operator Sprint, is Japan’s third-largest mobile operator with nearly 38 million customers on its home network.
Procera, which in April announced plans to go private in a $240 million deal with private-equity group Francisco Partners, said its Subscriber Experience solution provides operators with real-time and historical visibility into the subscriber experience.
Procera last month launched its ScoreCard solution, which it said was designed to measure quality of experience indicators from Internet browsing and streaming-video applications, as well as social media, gaming, uploads and downloads, and voice application.
