Kagan: Betacom, Axis, Evolon create new private wireless AI security

Last week, three companies, Betacom, Axis Communications and Evolon, introduced an always-on, affordable 24/7/365 perimeter security solution made possible by private wireless. Not only is private wireless giving enterprise the ability to better control their own wireless communications, but it is also proving to be the basis for important new technology solutions.

This new service is called Betacom PSS and delivers continual physical threat detection in significantly less time and at a reduced cost than current, traditional, legacy solutions. PSS stands for Perimeter Surveillance Solution. PSS will help airports, warehouses and manufacturing facilities increase security, offer more protection and at a lower cost.

Betacom PSS is new AI-powered perimeter surveillance security system

Betacom PSS uses new technology from three companies to provide a new and comprehensive solution. In short, Axis cameras equipped with Evolon AI-based image detection are operated on the Betacom managed private wireless network using 4G and 5G.

This is an important solution to an age-old and growing problem faced by countless businesses, enterprises and operations who struggle with the challenge of perimeter security issues and the associated high costs.

Betacom PSS extends customers surveillance systems in areas where more traditional solutions can quickly become cost prohibited.

You see, using this private wireless network solution, deployment costs can be significantly less making this a very attractive solution since fiber and power installation can cost $2 – $3 million dollars per mile.

Betacom PSS private wireless AI security solution shows reduced cost

Plus, they say millions of additional dollars are also saved as this offers unlimited data usage for video transmission at no additional cost.

Plus, operational savings from AI capabilities, which distinguish between types of threats, so on-site security teams are only dispatched when there is a real threat.

Plus, they say it is easy to integrate Betacom PSS into existing surveillance and central control systems.

Year after year, the need for new security solutions is growing as threats increase and intensify. At the same time, cost and complexity continues to rise.

This new service is not only a solution based on new technology but is also much lower in cost.

Next generation in private wireless-based AI perimeter security

Betacom deploys and operates this new PSS solution. Axis cameras are used and they are fixed thermal and PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom). They are deployed together to provide high performance optical images to maximize accuracy in threat detection.

The Axis open platform with its ability to have in-camera applications like Evolon AI technology reside on the edge and helps provide optimal security by reducing bandwidth, latency and costs.

There is also an option to power Axis cameras using either solar power or uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) increase flexibility and eliminates the need for on-grid power.

Betacom PSS uses AI and deep learning to detect threats

Evolon AI technology and Axis cameras let Betacom PSS provide object classification. This is much better than simple motion or object detection.

Betacom PSS uses AI learning and Deep Learning to recognize a person or vehicle as a threat, based on predetermined criteria. Evolon eliminates up to 98% of false alarms through better detection.

As security threats increase, new solutions need to be continually developed. It looks like Betacom PSS is one of these new solutions developed to fight the ongoing battle of better surveillance and security at a lower cost.

Keep your eyes on the private wireless space. There is so much innovation bubbling all around us, transforming not only wireless, but other industries and services, one after the other.
