Test and Measurement: P3, Strategy Analytics partner on mobile insights

International network consulting and test company P3 Group this week signed an agreement with research firm Strategy Analytics to partner on an effort to provide consumer insights via mobile devices.

The mobile insights partnership will combine P3’s on-device measurement software with Strategy Analytics’ AppOptix platform for real-time mobile consumer tracking and intelligence. P3 said its Insight platform works in the background on a device to gather app usage data as well as device and network data, which is aggregated to provide a picture of device and network performance, and consumer behavior. P3 launched its own U Get app earlier this year allowing mobile users to track and analyze their own data and network usage, while also sharing the data with P3. From that data set, the company has released analysis on topics such as usage of “Pokemon Go” and trends in mobile phone usage around Mother’s Day.

AppOptix, meanwhile, relies on software-based sensors that consumers opt-in to having installed on their devices. Strategy Analytics establishes representatives panels based on demographics, device types and network operators, and rewards device owners for keeps their app installed and active.

“The synergies between our two approaches became clear once we started talking and recognized that while our implementation is different, our technologies are quite similar and target markets complement each other,” said Ralf Klüber, managing director for P3 Insight, in a statement. “This agreement has the potential to deliver unique insights on the wireless customer experience. It will benefit a wide range of industries that increasingly depend on customers who do business via mobile devices.”
