RCRtv Weekly Recap: Stratus Technologies, small cells trends, IoT

In case you missed the latest episodes of RCRtv, our weekly recap is bringing you insight on topics and guests featured on RCRtv’s weekly programing.

Episode 11 of “IoT Innovation” aired on Aug. 13, featuring Jason Marcheck, service director for Current Analysis. This episodes focused on network spend for device support. Program host Chris Hare and Marcheck discussed general trends in the “Internet of Things” industry and Marcheck also shared his perspective on network and infrastructure considerations.

Scaling e-commerce for mobile is the topic for episode 22 of “Coders.” The episode featured guest John Davis, who is a long-time coder and senior Web developer for Jewelry TV. Program host Victor Agreda and Davis examined the interaction between e-commerce and wireless. The latest episode of “Coders” aired on Aug. 14.

The second episode of “Wi-Fi Now” aired Aug. 13. Host Claus Hetting discussed the featured topic of the convergence of mobile and Wi-Fi and whether this will be the way of the future. The episode featured guests included David Heit, Dr. Adrian Tang and David Witkowski. Heit is the EVP at Pravala; Dr. Tang has worked 13 years for NASA-JPL on CMOS design and wireless research; and Witkowski is the president and CEO of the Wireless Communications Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on promoting wireless initiatives.

Episode 24 of “NFV/SDN Reality Check” included insight from Stratus Technologies on how they look at vendors that are using virtualization technologies to meet carrier network service requirements. Show host Dan Meyer spoke with Jason Anderson, VP of business line management at Stratus Technologies. Anderson and Meyer discussed the influence of NFV, SDN and cloud deployments from telecom and mobile operators was having on Stratus’ platform plans. Meyer and Anderson also touched base on the importance of carrier-grade solutions to support virtualization deployments.

“HetNet Happenings” with host Sean Kinney aired episode 26 with a look at small cell trends. Marcheck joined Kenny for the discussion, which took a look into how 2015 is the year for major operators rolling out small cells.

RCR Wireless News launched a series of programs, which profiles the people, jobs, companies and locations driving transformation. For episode eight of “Inside Telcom Careers,” host and producer Karla Macias will interview Joey Jackson and Jeff Mucci about “Places, Digs and Gigs.”  Mucci explained the concept behind “Places, Digs and Gigs” segments on RCRtv, and also shared his favorite “Places” segments: New York City and Stockholm, Sweden. In this episode, we take a look into Jackson’s background, his work at RCR Wireless News and his segments on Ericsson and Data Scientist.
