RCR Wireless News is set to visit Baltimore the week of July 18 as part of our Mobile Broadband Tour and Conference series.
The RCR Wireless News Mobile Broadband Baltimore tour will include several days meeting with local telecommunication leaders and associations in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., area as well as a one-day conference. The meetings will be held on July 20-21, with the conference scheduled for July 19.
(To set up a meeting in Baltimore or Washington, D.C., with RCR Wireless News please contact Dan Meyer at [email protected].)
Baltimore is currently home to more than 620,000 people, as well as more than 42,000 businesses employing more than 283,000 people. The telecommunications space is seen as a key driver in that growth as the city hosts a number of major players in the space, including Anritsu Co., Millennial Media, Tessco Inc., and was the first market in which Sprint Nextel Corp. launched WiMAX services.
The RCR Wireless News visit to Baltimore will include a half-day in person and online conference on July 19 at the Baltimore Hilton (401 West Pratt St.), where attendees will be able to get a better understanding of how carriers and suppliers are addressing the market’s insatiable demand for mobile data.
This event is available to attend in person or online at the RCRTV website. Cost to attend in person is $95 and includes lunch. You qualify for free admission if employed by a mobile operator/service provider or large enterprise or vertical market institution. Students also may attend free with a valid student ID. There is no cost to attend the interactive broadcast online.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. with our pre-conference program that will include a live webinar and the RCR Wireless News Weekly News Roundup.
The conference itself is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. with a registration and networking event followed at 11:10 a.m. with opening remarks from RCR Wireless News’ Senior Editor Dan Meyer and Maryland/D.C. Wireless Association.
The event will kick off at 11:15 a.m. with the Analyst Angle: Mobile Broadband Review session where leading industry analysts from PRTM, CSMG and other firms will provide insight into the market as well as partake in a panel discussion led by Meyer.
At 11:45 a.m. the Lunch and Learn session will begin looking at building next generation 4G/LTE/DAS networks for carriers and enterprises. Moderating the event will be David Yocoub, president of the MDDC Wireless Association. Scheduled panel members will include Daniel C. Agresta III from American Tower Corp.; Len Forkas from Milestone Communications; and Darlene Braunschweig from Corning Mobile Access.
Following the Lunch and Learn session will be a presentation at 12:15 p.m. by Khurram P. Sheikh, CTO and president of Powerwave Technologies, looking at the integration of picocells into mobile networks.
At 12:45 p.m. RCR Wireless News’ Dan Meyer will moderate a panel discussion looking at harnessing the power of next generation mobile broadband networks. Panelists will include representatives from Motorola Solutions Inc., AT&T Inc., T-Mobile USA Inc. and Nokia Corp./Navteq.
The panel discussion will be followed at 1:15 p.m. by a presentation from Seth Buechley, president of Solid Technologies, looking at the evolution of shared DAS networks.
At 1:45 p.m., Tessco’s John Celentano will moderate a panel looking at PIM testing as well as a product demonstration from CCI Products.
Following a 30-minute networking break that begins at 2:10 p.m., the conference will resume with a look at the evolution of public safety and enterprise wireless networks by Jake MacLeod from Gray Beards Consulting. This will be followed at 3:10 p.m. by an in-building DAS tutorial from Tessco’s John Celentano;
The final session of the conference will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will include a presentation by Geoff Stearn, LightSquared’s VP of spectrum management, followed by a presentation into the soon-to-launch LightSquared network by Ted Abrams from Abrams Wireless. Both Stearn and Abrams will then join RCR Wireless News’ Dan Meyer for a panel discussion.
(Up to the minute event details can be found at http://rcrlocal.com/baltimore/.)
The conference will adjourn at 4:30 when attendees are encouraged to make the short trip across the street to Camden Yards for the the MDDC Wireless Association Bullpen Party, which is set to begin at 5:30 p.m., and the following baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. The event is being presented by the MDDC Wireless Association and the New England Wireless Association.
Tickets for the event cost $85 and include both the game and private pregame bullpen party. The party will include an open buffet and open bar (beer and soda only). Separate registration is required to attend: Please click here for details.
