Nokia, T-Mobile shake hands with new content deal: Ovi to be combined with web’n’walk

T-Mobile International and Nokia Corp. announced a “collaboration agreement” to package the German carrier’s web’n’walk mobile Internet service with Nokia’s Ovi offering.
Nokia said it will develop customized devices that combine a dedicated suite of T-Mobile services with Ovi, Nokia’s direct-to-consumer portal comprising mobile music, mapping, games and social networking offerings. The companies also said they will work to enhance MyFaves, T-Mobile’s community service, and will collaboratively develop widgets for web’n’walk.
The announcement may mark the end of a rumored dust-up between the two companies in the wake of Nokia’s Ovi launch. Industry onlookers say carriers have been wary of embracing the direct-to-consumer effort, but Nokia has managed to bag several impressive operator partners for the service.
“We are excited about further extending our good cooperation with T-Mobile by supporting them in their key propositions like MyFaves and web’n’walk,” said Nokia SVP Anssi Vanjoki, “and we see this as a perfect match with our Ovi services.”
