Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Alvarion, Nortel, Alcatel-Lucent and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–Argentina: Alvarion Ltd. said it won a contract with Ertach Argentina to provide equipment for a Mobile WiMAX technology trial in the city of Rosario.
–Taiwan: Far EasTone Telecommunications has chosen Nortel Networks to provide a mobile WiMAX network in Taipei County. Far EasTone also announced a contract with Alcatel-Lucent to deploy a 802.16e-2005 WiMAX network along a a major freeway that connects Taipei City with Taoyuan Airport.
Miscellaneous
–Belgium: Belgacom and Nokia Siemens Networks extended a contract for delivery and integration of an IPTV solution for an additional three years.
–Caribbean: Nokia Siemens Networks and Cable & Wireless announced they are extending their global frame agreement to include deployment of a Next Generation Services network in the region. The deal is valued at $40 million.
–India: Nokia Siemens Networks said it won a contract from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. to deploy broadband access equipment across 7,000 villages in the country.
