LG pulls out relics for TV party

HOLLYWOOD, Calif.-How often do Arnold and Chachi share a moment on the red carpet? Or what about Dr. Jason Seaver, Peter Brady and Wayne? Even Lloyd was there!
LG Electronics Co. Ltd. pulled out all the stops-and stars-for a party last week celebrating the TV shows and stars of yesteryear. The mobile TV party also celebrated the launch of the handset manufacturer’s LG VX9400, although the device, which supports Verizon Wireless’ Vcat Mobile TV service, has been on store shelves since March 23.
Gary Coleman, Scott Baio, Alan Thicke, Christopher Knight, Jason Hervey and Rex Lee were among the 100+ stars LG asked to stroll along the red carpet and mingle with hipsters and stargazers in a large stage at Paramount Studios.
The party organizers recreated three sets from TV history, including the “Brady Bunch” living room, Arnold’s (diner) from “Happy Days,” and “Star Trek’s” Enterprise Bridge. The sets included items from the original sitcoms including the fireplace from the “Brady Bunch,” and even Norm’s barstool from “Cheers” was on hand in an enclosed exhibit.
Costumed characters took photos of partygoers and celebrities on Polaroid cameras at each of the recreated sets as well as the General Lee from 2005’s “Dukes of Hazard” and other cars made famous on the screen.
As guests made their way into the party, they were given a glimpse at numerous vintage TV sets situated around numerous VX9400 cellphones strategically located throughout the party. Drinks flowed for all from the circular bar in the middle of the room while Arnold’s dished out fried foods and a sushi table made fans near the Enterprise Bridge.
DJ AM, who has spun sets for countless celebrities in tinsel town, kept the crowd moving and singing along well into the early morning hours as the party slowly emptied into the Paramount lot and onto Melrose Avenue before heading home.
