Virgin targets left-handers with new phone

LONDON-Virgin Mobile in the United Kingdom said it will sell the first phone designed exclusively for left-handed users. The phone, a Sony Ericsson LH-Z200, will sell for about $220 starting in April.

“We have been approached by thousands of left-handed customers who told us they wanted a phone which would work for them,” said Steven Day, corporate affairs director for Virgin Mobile (and a left-hander). “Britain’s 7 million left-handed people should not be ignored and Virgin Mobile is the first mobile company in the world to offer a solution to this problem working in partnership with Sony Ericsson. We are confident there will be huge interest in this product.”

Virgin said it will work with Sony Ericsson to produce a range of left-handed phones, including 3G devices.
