ABC, Telenor launch Soap Confidential

ATLANTA-ABC Entertainment and Telenor have launched Soap Confidential, an information program for ABC soap fans to keep up with their favorite shows and characters through premium text-messaging service. ABC said fans who sign up for Soap Confidential will receive exclusive messages from the network’s most popular characters.

Through Soap Confidential, fans can sign up to receive messages from any or all three of ABC’s daytime soap operas-All My Children, General Hospital and One Life to Live.

ABC Daytime and Telenor first partnered to create the All My Children’s Sexiest Man in America Contest, which received more than 2.5 million votes online and through text messages. ABC said fans also submitted more than 2,000 unsolicited text messages during that contest, commenting on the show.

“Premium text-message services have proven to be an incredibly effective method of increasing viewer loyalty by allowing them to directly communicate to characters with whom they have developed an emotional attachment,’ said Steiner Svalesen, CEO of Telenor Mobile Interactive. “Text-messaging services provide a portal for developing new marketing programs and revenue streams.”
