SpectraSite will sell network services group to WesTower

CARY, N.C.-SpectraSite Communications Inc., operating subsidiary of bankrupt SpectraSite Holding Inc., said it will sell its wireless network services division to its subsidiary WesTower Corp.

SpectraSite acquired the network services division in 1999 to complement its build-to-suit contracts, and is now selling it to focus on its core tower leasing business, according to Stephen Clark, president and chief executive officer. “Now that those build-to-suit contracts have been completed, it is no longer strategically imperative for SpectraSite to offer network services as a complementary product offering to its tower leasing business.”

SpectraSite expects the sale to close on Dec. 31.
