PARIS-Alcatel SA said it plans to cut 300 more jobs in the United Kingdom to allow it to concentrate on profitable areas.
“These initiatives are designed to deliver immediate cost efficiencies in Alcatel’s U.K. business and better focus the business on the most profitable segments of the U.K. telecom market,” said Alcatel in a statement.
The company, which has a work force of 110,000, had earlier laid off 9,000 employees.
