USTA asks court to deny FCC motion

WASHINGTON-The United States Telecom Association, which represents landline incumbent telcos, has asked a federal appeals court to deny a motion by the Federal Communications Commission to hold in abeyance its appeals pending the outcome of some FCC proceedings regarding unbundled network elements and line-sharing.

“As long as the UNE remand order and the line sharing order remain in effect portions of the network must be unbundled and made available to competitors which go way beyond what Congress intended,” said USTA President Roy M. Neel.

USTA believes that the issues raised in the appeals are different than the issues raised in several petitions for reconsideration filed at the FCC.
