Motorola combines M2M module with WiMAX technology

Motorola Inc. said it has begun a proof-of-concept trial for its X24 machine-to-machine wireless module that includes mobile WiMAX connectivity. The product will be on display this week at WiMAX World 2008 and will be part of a live demo using real WiMAX infrastructure.
The 802.16e-based X24 module is designed with automotive telemetry in mind, said the company. The product allows low-cost, in-car broadband connectivity over WiMAX networks.
The product is based on Motorola’s WTM1000 dual-band WiMAX chipset. The X24 counteracts interference by using MIMO A/B and other features of the WTM1000 to increase throughput and coverage, said the company.
