Sprint joins T-Mobile in targeting Samsung smartphones

Sprint joins T-Mobile in device promotion with offer of free TVs to customers purchasing select Samsung smartphones

Following up on T-Mobile US’ $100 discount on select Samsung devices, Sprint this week said it will provide customers with a free 32-inch Samsung LED television with the purchase of a high-end Samsung smartphone.

The offer is set to run from Dec. 18 to Dec. 24, and requires customers to either purchase the Samsung smartphone or make monthly payments via a lease agreement. Qualified handsets include the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge. Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note5.

T-Mobile US earlier this week said it would offer customers $100 off the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Edge+ or Note5 smartphones, as well as a full year of Netflix when they purchase one of the Samsung phones.

Sprint’s latest move builds on previous holiday promotions offered up by the carrier, which began in November with its 50% discount program that through Jan. 8 tempts current Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility and T-Mobile US customers with a significant discount on monthly service should they switch to Sprint.

However, most recent promotions have targeted device discounts, with Samsung devices being at the forefront of those offers. AT&T Mobility this past weekend launched a “buy-one, get-one” promotion for select high-end smartphones, including Samsung and Apple models. The deal does have a financial net in that customers need to sign up for the carrier’s 30-month Next 24 device financing program as well as bring a new line of service to garner the BOGO deal.
