Clearwire Corp. (CLWR) said it plans to transition more of its customer care operations to current partner TeleTech Holdings Inc. that could impact approximately 700 employees.
Clearwire noted that the expansion of its current agreement calls for TeleTech to take over management of Clearwire’s day-to-day customer care services. As part of this, Clearwire said approximately 700 employees in Las Vegas and Milton, Fla., will immediately transition to TeleTech, with Clearwire retaining approximately 180 employees between both locations.
Clearwire noted that the agreement will help “increase efficiencies and reduce costs in the company’s customer care organization by leveraging the global resources of a leader in care center support.”
The move follows similar deals recently done by Clearwire as it attempts to streamline its operations. The company announced last month a seven-year network management agreement with Ericsson that it said would reduce operating costs. That deal also called for the transition of 700 Clearwire employees to Ericsson.
Clearwire also recently annulled a backhaul services agreement with FiberTower Corp.
