EMC: 2012 will be the year to educate market about big data

Although news, the big data concept has been recently spread among ICT market. “Big meets cloud” has been the EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) slogan this year. Big data and cloud impact directly and they are changing a lot the technology roll. That’s why five years ago EMC debuted in the content management market, which is related to the two other trends. The content-centric technologies are the future of EMC, and company aims to explore that to go further than storage.

“Cloud will transform IT as well as the big data will change the way company does business,” the general manager for EMC Brasil, Carlos Cunha, shared with RCR Wireless News. “That’s why BI predictive and analyse predictive tolls will be the base of the decision-making.” Cunha admitted this might happen first in mature markets, where the competition is higher and companies have to gain each other clients to grow. “In addition, predictive tolls can help enterprises from financial, telecoms and retail sectors to know in-depth their customers.”

These new perspectives are addressing EMC future. “2012 will be the year to educate the market about big data and its challenges. We don’t want to be the only one talking about that,” said Cunha.

Moving beyond store does not meas EMC will stop looking at this segment. Store is the cash call and, since data explosion continuous to expand, there’s space to grow in the installed-base in current client as well as gain others. “We want to help customers to reduce their store and content management costs.”

In terms of financial results, Cunha expects to close 2011 fiscal year with an increase of 23% in Brazilian unit. Company invest 12% of its revenue in R&D.
