WEST POINT, Ga.-Powertel Inc. said it appointed Rodney D. Dir to chief operating officer. Dir
had served as the company’s vice president and general manager for the Atlanta major trading area since 1996. Prior to
joining Powertel, Dir served as general manager for GTE Mobilnet Inc. in California.
As chief operating officer, Dir
will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s wireless operations, including directing all sales, marketing,
customer service, network engineering, business development and product development.
