The recent Huawei Connect 2023 event in Paris showed how as wireless, telecom and data networks continue to grow, they will ultimately connect everyone and everything. The theme of this year-end event was “Accelerating Digital and Green Transition Together” and shows what was accomplished in 2023 and helps us look forward to 2024.

So, let us pull the camera back and get a longer-term, historical perspective on what the world will look like as we move forward.

The theme of this event illustrates how Huawei believes the convergence of green and digital represents two pivotal trends propelling the sustainable development of European industries.

This event brought together an interesting mix of global thought leaders, business and tech entrepreneurs and ecosystem partners to share their insights and growth strategies.

Huawei Connect was both year-end summary and what to expect next year

Huawei says connecting everything with high-speed networks is key to digital transformation. I would add, both everything and everyone.

We are rapidly transforming the way we go about the business of life. This is the direction the entire wireless and wire line telecommunications industry, worldwide is heading.

Huawei said the industrial setting where high-performance networks support real-time transmission, analysis and vast amounts of data.

They say this requires network solutions which are resilient, intelligent and support ultra-broadband connections for a wide range of scenarios.

Jim Lu, Huawei SVP, president of European Region, proposed four pillars

In his keynote address, Jim Lu, Huawei senior vice president and resident of the European Region, proposed four pillars to better support the Europe win transition of connectivity of everything. These are connectivity of everything, intelligence cloud, bits to manage watts and open cooperation.

Lu also said Huawei would continue to do their part supporting the Europe green and digital transition.

He said, they have been working with European customers and partners for two decades. They have made progress connecting people, empowering businesses and building Europe’s digital ecosystem.

And how moving forward, Huawei will continue to strengthen their support in Europe for digital transformation, local innovation, sustainability and cyber security.

Hungary East-West Gate (EWG) Intermodal Terminal is first with 5G

To illustrate, Huawei worked with partners to help build the Hungary East-West Gate (EWG) Intermodal Terminal into the first 5G powered logistics terminal in Europe.

They point to how ultra-high bandwidth, ultra-low latency and high reliability helps 5G enable fully automated and remote-controlled, overhead cranes for smart railway logistics.

As a result, they say the terminal is much safter, offers improved working conditions and runs significantly more efficiently.

Huawei Cloud helps industries get smart

When everything is connected, they said Cloud is the powerhouse behind the algorithms and computing power needed to help every industry go smart.

In fact, cloud remains an enormous growth opportunity both for Huawei Cloud and for others in the industry as well.

Based on what I hear, I believe we are in the very early stages of what will turn out to be long and large growth opportunity for every company in every sector, worldwide.

Yang Chaobin, president of ICT Products and Solutions, discussed the future

Yang Chaobin is a Huawei board member and the president of ICT products and solutions. He noted how ICT innovations is reshaping all industries in the digital economy. How this is becoming a new engine of economic growth.

He also spoke of the next wave of industry digitalization, which is now underway in fields like education, healthcare and more.

Jaqueline Shi, president Huawei Cloud discussed Everything as a Service

Jaqueline Shi, president of Huawei cloud global marketing and sales service, in her keynote addressed “Accelerated Intelligence with Huawei Cloud Through Everything as a Service.”

She said the time is ripe to accelerate intelligent transformation. How the strategy of “Everything as a Service” or EaaS with Huawei Cloud continues to innovate cloud native databases and AI.

She pointed to the Pangu weather models as an example, and the next-generation distributed cloud database.

Huawei Connect 2023 was a great way to take the temperature of where we are, what has been accomplished in 2023 and what we can expect in 2024 and beyond.

This both showed the progress of Huawei, and in fact of the entire global wireless industry.

Wireless grows with 5G-A, private wireless, FWA, 5G home internet

In fact, wireless is growing in several new directions for growth. These include are areas like 5G-Advanced or 5G-A. Huawei calls this 5.5G. Plus private wireless, FWA and 5G home internet.

It appears many in the wireless industry is gearing up for another exciting and extended period of growth in these areas.

So, buckle up. Things are just getting started and it looks like they are going to get exciting in 2024 and beyond.
