In 2009, the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley reviewed over 100 Telecom startup companies across broad a range of telecom products and services. From those, over 20 carrier members of the Council chose nominees for several award categories. As a presenter to the Telecom Council, each of these companies had already been identified as a promising startup. And, as a nominee, the potential of each of the following companies has already been qualified by our global carriers.
Nominees are selected by the Telecom Council’s Service Provider Forum (SPIF) from among all the telecom startups who presented in Telecom Council meetings over the previous year. SPIFFY nominations indicate a startup has innovation, opportunity and a quantifiable interest among our 20 global Service Providers.

SPIFFY nominees are identified by over 20 global carriers for their promise and impact across the telecom industry.
The SPIFFY winners will be announced in a public award ceremony by members of our Service Provider Forum, including AT&T, British Telecom, DoCoMo, France Telecom/Orange, Swisscom, Verizon and many other fixed and wireless carriers from Europe, Asia, and North and South America listed on the Telecom Council website. Prizes include a seat on the Airship Ventures’ Zeppelin, the only Zeppelin NT airship in North America. The flight, provided by Airship Ventures, is a fitting reward for those rising telecom startups.
