Mobile Minute: Moto X hits all four major carriers

by Martha DeGrasse

The first smartphone to be made in America has not set any sales so far, and Google’s Motorola is hoping that will change as the Moto X rolls out to more carriers. AT&T was the first to get the customizable smartphone, and now Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile have the phone as well.

Pricing varies widely. Verizon is selling the phone for $50 with a two-year contract until November 18. That’s half the price AT&T is charging. Sprint is offering the Moto X for free to customers who start a new contract. And T-Mobile, which no longer has contracts, is selling the Moto X for $500.

Meanwhile upstart Republic Wireless, which offers service plans that start as low as $5/month, is selling the Moto X for $300.
