IM3 counts half million subscribers

SURABAYA, Indonesia-Indosat M3 (IM3) recently announced its first half million subscribers at the end of last year, representing a 4-percent figure above target.

Following the strong results, IM3 projects to achieve another 500,000 subscribers this year. To achieve the target, IM3 plans to expand its network coverage from the current 60 percent of the country’s potential market areas and to improve service quality, as well as develop new features.

Sumedi Kirono, IM3’s chief technical officer, said IM3 would continue releasing attractive features like video streaming in the near future, confirming its leadership in mobile multimedia in Indonesia.

IM3 began service in Indonesia in September 2001 and was the country’s first General Radio Packet Service (GPRS) provider.
