Kinex applications are built on the ThingWorx industrial internet of things platform

IoT technology provider PTC has launched the Kinex product family, a new brand that will consist of industrial internet of things (IoT) applications.

This new generation of IoT apps are designed to unify data from enterprise systems and physical sensors, then deliver contextualized user information and insight to enable improved decision making and performance, PTC said.

The Kinex applications, built on the ThingWorx industrial IoT platform, will enable users to change how products are designed, manufactured, serviced and experienced, the firm added.

The first application branded under the Kinex product family is the Kinex Navigate application. Kinex Navigate allows stakeholders across the company to access and use product data sourced from multiple systems of record in a role-based interface. Leveraged with PTC’s Windchill system for smart, connected PLM, the Kinex Navigate app breaks down silos in the product lifecycle with simple universal data access. Stakeholders in the product’s lifecycle have access to accurate and up-to-date product information, enabling users to drive better product decisions.

PTC said that it will be releasing additional Kinex applications, built on PTC’s ThingWorx IoT platform.

“Kinex role-based applications will enable customers to rapidly adopt and realize value from their digital transformation initiatives,” said Peter Vescuso, chief customer journey officer, PTC. “Kinex Navigate is seeing increased adoption in the market as companies look to leverage the Industrial IoT to improve their competitive advantage and increase the value delivered to their customers. As we work with hundreds of our global manufacturing customers worldwide, we understand the challenges and technology requirements that Industrial IoT presents.”

Wisol to use Sequans’ solutions to create new family of modules for M2M, IoT

In other IoT news, French provider of single-mode 4G LTE semiconductor solutions, Sequans Communications, announced that Wisol, a manufacturer of wireless connectivity modules, will use Sequans’ Monarch LTE Cat M1/NB1 chip, Calliope LTE Cat 1 chipset, and Colibri LTE Cat 4 chipset to design a new family of modules for M2M and IoT applications.

Under the terms of the deal, Wisol will design, market and sell the new IoT-optimized modules, using Wisol’s technologies and components, to its customers worldwide, including in the U.S, Japan, and Korea.

“Wisol has a strong track record in designing and building RF components and the combination of their and our technologies in these new LTE for IoT modules will enable optimizations in power, size and cost that we believe will accelerate growth in LTE for IoT worldwide,” said Danny Kedar, VP of Sequans’ IoT business unit.
