VeriSign Inc. announced it will handle regional wireless carrier Dobson Communication Corp.’s voice and data settlement operations, starting in April. In a separate but related announcement, Rural Cellular Corp. said it renewed its settlement deal with Syniverse. Syniverse said it will stand as RCC’s single point of contact with other wireless carriers, helping to settle the carrier’s roamer billing records.
“The convergence of old and new services and a growing number of records from multiple roaming partners continues to increase the complexity of rating, billing, clearing and settling for rural wireless service providers,” VeriSign Vice President Lee Huggins said. “The unique ability to provide Dobson Communications with our bundled roaming and revenue assurance solution will help provide accuracy, timeliness and above all faster response to their customer needs.”
VeriSign said it currently provides clearing services to 35 carriers. Syniverse said it provides interoperability services to more than 350 “communications companies.”
