Chinese vendor ZTE reported that it has already secured a total of 46 5G commercial contracts around the world.
The vendor noted that these 5G contracts cover major markets across China, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
ZTE also highlighted that it has already carried out 5G cooperation with more than 70 operators globally, including China Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Orange, Telefonica, Wind Tre, Hutchison Drei Austria, and MTN.
In the Chinese market, ZTE has participated in the initial phase of 5G network construction by the country’s three telecom operators.
ZTE also highlighted that the company is currently making large investments to expand the vendor’s competitiveness in the 5G field. These investments are made in the areas of core chipsets, core network and ubiquitous artificial intelligence.
In the chipsets segment, the company has leveraged its chip design and development capabilities in developing its 7nm and 5nm chips. The 7nm chips have been put into large-scale 5G commercial deployment, ZTE said.
Regarding 5G core networks, ZTE has launched solutions such as FAST (time-frequency aggregation), DSS (dynamic spectrum sharing) and massive MIMO (multiple-in multiple out) performance optimization to improve network resource utilization.
In the transport network field, ZTE’s end-to-end 5G transport products have been put into large-scale commercial deployment. By end-December 2019, ZTE has shipped over 25,000 devices and completed more than 40 5G commercial transport networks and field tests.
With respect to 5G terminal devices, ZTE said it has created a diversified 5G terminal product portfolio. This portfolio includes 5G smartphones, 5G indoor routers, 5G outdoor routers, 5G mobile Wi-Fi routers, 5G ethernet boxes and 5G modules. To date, ZTE has established 5G terminal cooperation with more than 30 carriers worldwide; in 2020, ZTE will launch 10 5G smartphones globally, and a total of over 15 5G terminal devices.
In addition to handsets, ZTE will continue to focus on IoT products. The Chinese vendor said it aims to create integrated solutions, such as Industrial IoT (IIoT), consumer IoT and Vehicle IoT (V-IoT).
To date, ZTE has 300 partners in 15 industries, including industrial manufacturing, tourism, education, healthcare, media, port, environmental protection, energy, transportation, and finance.
In related news, ZTE said it has already declared 2,561 families of 5G Standard-Essential Patents (SEP) to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), according to the latest 5G industry patent report distributed by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
ZTE claimed to have more than 5,000 5G patents. The Chinese vendor also has over 3,900 chipset patent applications, covering Europe, the US, Japan, Korea and other countries.
