Cubic Telecom is recruiting for 60 new positions as connected car projects expand
Irish global connectivity platform provider Cubic Telecom is seeking to recruit additional staff for its Dublin office as the company increases its focus on connected car projects.
“As a result of our partnership with Audi and the VW Group, Cubic’s Connected Car projects are ramping up,” explained Gerry McQuaid, EVP for commercial and a board member at Cubic. “With more similar automotive project announcements in the pipeline for 2017 within the VW Group, Cubic requires adequate staff to meet this demand. Staff numbers will grow from 80 to 140. Recruitment for key roles has already begun.”
McQuaid said the company is seeking to recruit new software developers to manage the front and back end of its cloud-based intelligence platform. “Other skill sets which Cubic seeks to recruit are network engineers and network architects to manage the Cubic core network. Account management personnel will also be hired to nurture automotive client relationships on the commercial team,” the company added.
According to McQuaid, it can sometimes be challenging to find candidates with the relevant software development experience for the platform team and the requisite network architecture experience for the network team.
“We are also in competition for talent with other software companies in Dublin, however, as Cubic’s brand is becoming better known, sourcing the right skills for our team is getting easier,” McQuaid said.
Cubic Telecom usually seeks candidates with experience in responsive design and responsive web applications to develop its in-house platform. The firm also often hires full stack Microsoft .NET developers, the executive said.
“Those with experience in software development, open source, test and support will be key to the ‘internet of things’ industry,” McQuaid added. “An interest in UI/Microsoft technologies would be a bonus at Cubic as we are keen users of Microsoft Azure. … Other up-and-coming areas of growth will be big data. Candidates with experience in data analytics will be crucial over the coming years and will prompt a lot of fact finding and questions.”
Cubic Telecom’s global connectivity platform offers mobility solutions for IoT, machine-to-machine and mobile device companies. The company operates in more than 100 countries and some of its customers include Audi, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard, Rakuten and LeTV.
