OVERLAND PARK, Kan.—Two weeks into the NFL season, carriers continue to launch applications that bring gridiron action to mobile handsets.
With the latest football-themed announcement, Sprint PCS is offering two new products for pigskin fans with Vision phones. Subscribers can track scores, news and updated statistics with SportsTracker, a Java-enabled application using technology from 1KTV. A second application offers ring tones featuring the voices of six NFL players, including Priest Holmes, Clinton Ports and Michael Strahan.
A sample ring tone from Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper includes the line, “Pick up your phone; it’s game time, baby.”
Sprint’s other football-related offerings include mobile games, video updates and fantasy football statistics. SportsTracker is available for $4 a month; ring tones can be downloaded for $2.50 each.
