‘Uncarrier’ promotes prepaid plan with free phones
T-Mobile US appears to be making another “uncarrier” move to separate itself from the competition by being the first to offer free phones with prepaid plans.
According to TmoNews, the carrier will offer subscribers who pick a $40 prepaid plan, or a Simple Choice No Credit Plan and get the LG Leon LTE free of charge after rebates.

The promotion is set to kick off on May 20, which coincides with T-Mobile’s launch of the LG Leon LTE and the budget G Stylo phablet.
The LG Leon LTE has a full retail price of $149.76. Prepaid customers will pay $50 at checkout and then be able to claim the $50 online promotional rebate. Customers who sign up for the Simple Choice No Credit Plan pays $149.76 up front, then can claim the full rebate at T-Mobile.com/promotions.
The device has a 4.5-inch screen and operates using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1 gigabyte of RAM, 8 GB of memory, 1,900 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
