Indian telecommunications tower firm Indus Towers said it plans to invest approximately $40.7 million to deploy 1,000 towers in Punjab and Haryana states this year.
Indus Towers currently has 7,600 telecommunications towers in both states and more than 115,000 towers across India. The company was founded in 2007, and is a joint venture between local operators Bharti Infratel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular.

Indian mobile telephony operator Reliance Jio Infocomm expects to launch LTE services via an integrated system. The telco said it plans to launch its LTE offering using 800 MHz, 2300 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum bands. The operator obtained 800 MHz and 1800 MHz spectrum earlier this year, and had previously obtained spectrum in the 2300 MHz band.
Reliance Jio Infocomm is fully owned by Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries.
Pakistan
Total mobile subscribers in Pakistan reached 134.9 million at the end of March, down from 136.6 million at the end of the previous month, according to recent data from Pakistan Telecommunications Authority.
Mobile operator Mobilink led the market with more than 38.18 million mobile subscribers, followed by Telenor (36.59 million), CMPak (27.43 million), Ufone (21.50 million) and Warid (11.18 million).
South Korea
Telecommunications operator SK Telecom unveiled its new growth strategy, which will be based on a customer-centric approach.
According to SK Telecom’s CEO Jang Dong-Hyun, the firm will focus on three next-generation platforms, namely Lifestyle Enhancement Platform, Advanced Media Platform and IoT Service Platform. The company also announced plans to work with partners, including venture companies, startups and small- and mid-size enterprises to improve performance.
The executive added that SK Telecom and its subsidiaries aim to reach a market value of nearly $93 billion by 2018 through the implementation of this strategy.
Taiwan
The National Communications Commission certified HTC’s Think+ Touch OBU 2015 device. The in-car wireless device features Bluetooth, GPS navigation and tire pressure monitoring system, among other features.
The device supports Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
