Motorola Inc.’s Motorola Solutions business introduced its FDD LTE USB-lte 7110 device, the first FDD LTE-enabled device from the company. In addition, the company unveiled the WiMAX indoor customer premises equipment (CPEi) 890, also known as a desktop home networking device. Motorola said the all-in-one device provides wireless broadband access, including data, voice and Wi-Fi to home subscribers in frequencies over 2.5 GHz.
ZTE Corp. launched a WiMAX/TD-LTE dual-mode Remote Radio Unit supporting 2.3G/2.5GHz and 3.5GHz spectrum bands. The RRU also sports multiple-input and multiple-output and beamforming technologies.
Nokia Siemens Networks launched its Flexi Network Server that the company said has the lowest power consumption in the market, consuming only 59 watts per 100,000 subscribers. The new Flexi NS will be available for commercial deployment by the end of 2010.
NSN said the Flexi NS will work both as Serving GPRS Support Node for 2G/3G/HSPA networks and as Mobility Management Entity for LTE. In addition the product is fully compliant with 3GPP Release 8 specifications.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. demonstrated its WiMAX 2 solution based on the IEEE 802.16m and LTE. Samsung said the technology provides peak data throughput of 330 megabits per second.
WiMAX 2 on IEEE 802.16m and LTE received ITU approval as the IMT-Advance (4G) standards last week, with standards expected to be finalized next month and the WiMAX Forum preparing to release certified products of WiMAX 2 by the fourth quarter of 2011. Samsung said it aims to launch its first commercial solutions of WiMAX 2 in 2012 through UQ Communications in Japan.
Samsung noted that the standard will allows current mobile WiMAX operators to migrate their solutions to WiMAX 2 by upgrading channel cards or their system software. In addition, the company claims interoperability between current mobile WiMAX devices and the WiMAX 2 standard.
