Capital Markets: Broadcom to acquire Beceem; Dragonwave buys Axerra; and more

Broadcom announced it signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Beceem Communications, which provides 4G wireless platform solutions. The deal is valued at $315 million.
Qualcomm Innovation Center Inc. said it acquired iSkoot Technologies Inc., a San Francisco-based company that focuses on mobilizing Internet services on handsets. The company becomes a subsidiary of Qualcomm Innovation Center, which is Qualcomm’s subsidiary that optimizes open source software with Qualcomm technologies.
Dragonwave Inc. acquired Axerra Networks Inc., which provides pseudowire technology. The all-cash transaction is valued at $9.5 million, an amount that could increase to $15.5 million if Axerra meets certain growth targets during the next 16 months.
Synchronica plc completed its acquisition of iseemedia Inc., which adds contracts with large mobile operators in India to Synchronica’s business and furthers the company’s goal of becoming a leading next-generation mobile messaging provider in high-growth emerging markets. Syncrhonica also said it obtained additional funding of $6.9 million and has listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Knology said it closed its previously announced purchase of Sunflower Broadband, which provides voice, video and data services in Douglas County and Lawrence, Kan. The deal is valued at $165 million in cash.
Teletouch Communications Inc. reported results for its first fiscal quarter, which ended Aug. 31. Revenues for the quarter were $8.98 million, down 21.7% from revenues of $11.5 million during the same period last year. Net loss for the quarter $230,000.
Crown Castle International Corp. announced the quarterly dividend on its 6.25% convertible preferred stock will be paid Nov. 15 to shareholders of record on Nov. 1. The dividend will be paid in cash at a rate of $0.78125 per share.
