The worldwide service provider switching and routing equipment market grew 25% during the first quarter to $3.1 billion, according to analyst firm Ovum RHK.
“There were no significant market share movements in 1Q08,” said Mark Seery, VP at Ovum. “Alcatel-Lucent returned to 2Q07 revenue levels, Juniper continued its recent growth, Redback returned to 1Q07 revenue levels, Alaxala showed some good growth off a small base, and Tellabs was steady. Huawei remains solidly in fourth position.”
The company said the IP/MPLS core market grew 43% to $747 million; the IP/MPLS edge market grew 37% to $1.527 million; the IP/Ethernet market grew 17% to $604 million; and the ATM market grew 34% to $213 million.
