Sigfox is offering to waive connectivity costs for US-based IoT projects developed on its connectivity infrastructure that seek to address critical challenges related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The French firm’s US office has issued a called to the IoT community to “join forces” to come up with technological solutions to help with the COVID-19 crisis.
“As a technology company, we strongly believe IoT can do a lot to help. Today we are reaching out to all the members of the IoT ecosystem to ask them to join forces to design and implement solutions that can help save lives,” the company stated.
It referred to new Sigfox-based tracking and monitoring solutions, including for medical supplies and health workers assistance. “Many companies and individuals have launched initiatives to win the war against COVID-19 in the US,” it said.
Examples include IoT-enabled sensors to track the whereabouts and conditions of shipments of personal protective equipment (PPE), for monitoring and alerting staff about irregular movement of patients in nursing homes, and using IoT to identify oxygen tanks in hospitals that could directly aid in addressing respiratory issues in patients.
Although we are a small company, we want to play our part. Therefore, through July 31, 2020, and for all initiatives directly linked to fighting the pandemic, Sigfox is happy to wave all Sigfox connectivity costs in covered zones.
