Challenge winners will take part in smart building PoC
The?Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) announced the launch of the Smart Buildings Challenge, a program designed to give smart building technology suppliers the possibility to collaborate with customers to create targeted solutions for smart buildings.
The challenge presents contestants with a set of smart building problems faced by building operators and investors, as well as a set of parameters required of the solutions, IIC said.
Under the terms of the challenge, technology suppliers will develop solution proposals and compete to deploy pilot implementations to fulfill the requirements outlined by the challenge. A jury will select the winners from the pool of entries at the end of the challenge.
Prizes for winners will include the opportunity to deliver a live Proof of Concept (PoC) in a shopping mall supported by Deka and ECE.
IIC said that the challenges are open to the industry vendors, organizations, teams and individuals worldwide and are designed to advance and validate industrial IoT applications and solutions.
?The IoT Challenges are an excellent opportunity for building operators and investors to address complex technologies in the industrial IoT that they haven?t resolved,? said Richard Soley, Executive Director, IIC. ?The intent of the IoT Challenges is to create interest around emerging IoT use cases and to help bring new products to market.?
IIC also said that initial use cases for the Smart Buildings Challenge include:
-Smart Space Flow Analytics: Tracking, Zones, Anonymized Tracking
-Smart Metering in Multi-Tenant Commercial Buildings: Smart Metering, Energy Consumption, Focus on Electric Energy
-Smart Automated Building: HVAC, Control Technical Equipment, Demand Oriented Control of Equipment, Sustainability
-Smart Building Dashboard: Management Tool, Sales Tool, Overview, Digital Twin, Augmented Reality
Principal partners ECE and Deka define the Smart Buildings Challenge entry requirements and technical parameters.
ECE develops, builds and manages shopping centers and realizes commercial properties such as corporate headquarters, office and industrial buildings, logistics centers, hotels, and residential properties, while Deja Immobilien?is the specialist for real estate investments within the Deka Group. Deka Immobilien currently has approximately 500 properties in office, retail, hotel and logistics spread over 25 countries on five continents.
Contestants will compete to design and submit solutions. During the design process, contestants will participate in hackathons, workshops and reverse pitches worldwide.
Also, enabling technology partners will offer their technologies to contestants for use in their solutions. The initial enabling technology partner is Bosch Building Technologies, a supplier of products and systems for security, safety and communication.
The Smart Buildings Challenge will take place from August 30, 2019 through February 1, 2020. Winners will be announced and awarded at?Bosch Connected World 2020?in Berlin, Germany, in February next year.
