Sprint’s Curiosity IoT is enabling connectivity, over-the-air device management and intelligent data capabilities for Dynamics’ Wallet Card, which claims to be the world’s first connected payment card.
Already adopted by major global financial institutions, the Wallet Card will operate with seamless connectivity through Curiosity IoT, remote device management and instant intelligent data capabilities, Sprint said.

In the UAE, local bank Emirates NBD is one of the first financial institutions to adopt this technology.

Sprint highlighted that Curiosity’s IoT-dedicated network, built together with a purpose-engineered operating system, is enabling the management of millions of Wallet Cards remotely. Connectivity will permit users to interact with the cards in new ways and experience enhanced user experiences while providing a number of new security features enabled by the IoT connectivity, Sprint said.
Dynamics’ Wallet Card is a full telecommunications platform in the same size and shape as a normal credit or debit card. With almost 200 internal components, the device incorporates a number of technologies including:
-Cell phone chip and antenna
-Battery and organic recharging chip
-Card-programmable magnetic stripe, EMV chip and contactless chip
-65,000 pixel display and user interface
Curiosity IoT is a dedicated, virtualized and distributed IoT network and operating system built by Sprint to handle data from a variety of IoT use cases and devices.
When coupled with Sprint’s 5G service, Curiosity’s IoT core network will be capable of supporting artificial intelligence, robotics, edge computing, autonomous vehicles and other IoT systems requiring extreme low-latency and high-bandwidth, the carrier said.
Sprint has already launched commercial 5G in areas of Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Kansas City and the company is expected to launch service in areas of Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. in the coming weeks.
