Cisco has established a partner-driven IoT digital lab
Cisco has launched an IoT-based smart city pilot program in Hong Kong dubbed the Digital Living Lab. Together with a number of partners, Cisco set up a low-power RAN gateway (LoRaWAN) at Hong Kong Science Park (HKSTP) to provide demonstrations of IoT-enabled applications in Hong Kong.
The networking company also said it is providing 80 IoT explorer kits to schools, startups and other organizations in Hong Kong to support their teaching and learning in IoT-based technologies and facilitate data analytics and R&D development for IoT applications.
“The ‘Smart Region’ initiative led by HKSTP and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is to make Hong Kong Science Park a testbed of the smart city vision. We are glad that Cisco, as a worldwide leader in smart city technology, is launching ‘Digital Living Lab’ that aligns with our agenda in developing into a smart city,” HKSTP CTO George Lee said.
Apart from HKSTP, Cisco’s partners in the program include Avnet, Pixel Networks, the Smart City Consortium (SCC) and the Technology Incubation Network (TIN).
Cisco launches new suite of predictive services for enterprises
In related news, Cisco has announced Cisco today announced a new suite of predictive services that anticipates IT failures, mitigates risk, reduces maintenance costs, and assists organizations in their digital transformation strategies.
Cisco said its new business critical services and high-value services offerings will enable organizations to invest more of their IT budgets on technology innovation.

Cisco highlighted that its new business critical services deliver capabilities including analytics, automation, compliance and security by Cisco Advanced Services’ technology experts to enable a secure, efficient, and agile technology environment. The company said that business critical services will help firms to minimize human error.
