ZTE managed service business surged in 2015

ZTE signed more than 177 managed service deals worldwide

Chinese telecom and technology vendor ZTE said it’s service business scale increased 20% in 2015, signing more than 177 managed service contracts worldwide last year. Those deals involved more than 335,000 sites and 332,000 kilometers of optical outside plant cables for operation and maintenance.

ZTE said it currently manages network infrastructure for many leading operators including O2 (Germany), Euskaltel (Spain), Telenor (Pakistan), MTN (Uganda), H3A (Austria), DIGI (Malaysia), China Mobile, China Tower and China Unicom.

“With advanced service tools and big data analysis platforms, telecoms operators will focus more on guaranteeing quality of service, improving subscriber loyalty and exploring marketing value in addition to enhancing network quality,” said Chen Fugi, Assistant CEO and GM of ZTE’s Engineering Service Department.

ZTE noted its products and services are sold to more than 500 operators in more than 160 countries, and that it commits 10% of its annual revenue to research and development activities.

Singtel, Ericsson to deploy 900 MHz-based LTE network

In other APAC news, Singapore telecoms operator Singtel and Swedish vendor Ericsson announced plans to deploy a nationwide LTE network using 900 MHz spectrum by the end of March.

Singtel said the deployment will be the nation’s first tri-band LTE network using spectrum in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2.6 GHz bands. The technology upgrade will also enable Singtel to offer nationwide carrier aggregation technology and support download speeds of more than 300 megabits per second.

In 2014, Singtel launched a commercial dual-band deployment in collaboration with Ericsson supporting network speed up to 300 Mbps speeds.

SingTel ended 2015 with 4.1 million mobile subscribers, including 2.2 million LTE subscribers, and 50% overall market share.
