In 2016, analysts project that 400K Enterprise cellular nodes will be shipped, but over 12 million Wi-Fi APs will be used in the Enterprise LAN. We all know that Wi-Fi cannot provide the quality of service and security that enterprises need, but enterprises are still deploying Wi-Fi instead of cellular for their LANs/WANs. The reason for this is very simple: Wi-Fi APs are very cost-effective and easy to install and maintain as opposed to enterprise cellular nodes.

This is where Parallel Wireless enterprise solution comes in with the goal of making enterprise cellular as easy and cost-effective to deploy and maintain as Wi-Fi.

Parallel Wireless innovative vRAN solution for enterprises has two components:

  • White box enterprise Femto cells (Cellular Access Point or CAP) orchestrated by the HetNet Gateway (HNG). Being able to use a “white box” Cellular Access Point (CAP) based on Intel technology that has licensed cellular + Wi-Fi gives mobile operators the flexibility to choose any ODM for hardware which lowers the equipment CAPEX.
  • Parallel Wireless HetNet Gateway (HNG) orchestrator includes enterprise gateway functionality with many 3G/4G/Wi-Fi functions (including Femto gateway, Small Cell gateway, etc.) built-in. Normally the cost of femto, small cell, Wi-Fi gateways, etc. are sort of an “elephant in the room” as the cost is ON TOP of any enterprise solution costs and can easily add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars to the TCO. HetNet Gateway will additionally reduce the CAPEX as many gateway functionalities required to manage licensed and unlicensed are already included since it runs on any Intel server (few thousands of dollars with plenty of capacity for high performance). With VNFs on HNG, there is no need to purchase additional core gateways which are somewhat “hidden costs”. Parallel Wireless HNG-enabled vRAN solution costs already includes the costs of other gateways (Femto, Small Cell, Security, Wi-Fi gateway, etc.). HNG can be deployed in the data center (DC)/cloud or locally and just one HNG can serve many enterprises. OPEX will be reduced with HNG as it will optimize the enterprise network, mitigate traffic, etc.

Parallel Wireless Enterprise vRAN solution can be deployed for pennies per square foot as a result of low cost “white box” Femto cells/CAPs and auto-configuration/ self-optimization capabilities of real-time SON with interference mitigation on HNG. We help Enterprises to deploy/maintain cellular the way they deploy/maintain Wi-Fi. They can install in under a day with no specialized installers or RF planning required. HNG configures the nodes without any involvement from IT personnel (plug-n-play) AND also mitigates interference not only with the in-building cells, but with macros as well, resulting in better QoS for data/voice for enterprises.
