NATE hosts live safety webinar

NATE (the National Association of Tower Erectors) has announced a new webinar on its website. The title of the webinar is “Achieving Zero Injuries – Best Practices in Workplace Safety.” It will take place on Dec. 9, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. EDT and will last an hour. Here is the description from the website:

“Injuries and illnesses in the workplace are costing businesses billions of dollars and at the same time loss of productivity and profits. This program will examine the most frequent causes of injuries and best practices to eliminate them. It will also look at the top 20 ‘low hanging fruit’ safety violations that OSHA is looking to cite employers and hit them with large penalties.”

Safety has been on the entire industry’s mind in light of the recent FCC workshop on safety, and NATE is doing its part to drive home this message, using the collective knowledge from this important organization. There’s no need to register for this event, just return to NATE’s website on the day and time specified and enjoy.

SBA Results

Earlier this week, SBA Communications, one of the largest tower companies in the U.S., posted its third-quarter 2014 results. Total revenue was $393.3 million for the quarter, beating previous estimates of $385.6 million. This growth was partly due to a 2012 purchase of 2,300 tower sites in the United States and Central America, as well as some distributed antenna systems in the U.S.

When doing so well it would be easy to rest on one’s laurels and just hit Disney World, but no, they’ve got big plans to expand their business both here and abroad. Company President and CEO Jeff Stoops said SBA is ready to “support the need for additional wireless infrastructure going forward. Wireless data growth in a world of limited spectrum … requires more equipment. It’s really that simple.” Read more about their Q3 results and plans for the future here.
