Oracle Communications is set to expand its software push into the mobile space, recently announcing plans to acquire TOA Technologies, which provides cloud-based field service solutions designed to manage customer services for enterprises. TOA said those solutions include coordinating communications “between dispatchers, mobile employees and their customers.”
Financial terms of the deal were not released.
TOA’s operations will join Oracle’s Service Cloud, which is part of its broader Customer Experience Cloud service. Oracle said the TOA addition, which is expected to close this year, will expand its ability to provide “end-to-end personalized customer service solutions with the addition of critical face-to-face field service interactions, enabling visibility into customer history throughout the customer relationship lifecycle.”
TOA said it currently manages more than 120 million “service events” annually across 20 countries, and counts contracts with Dish Network, E.ON, Home Depot, Ricoh, Telefonica, Virgin Media and Vodafone.

Oracle has recently tapped the bond market to raise $10 billion in order to finance a rash of recent acquisitions, including its $5.3 billion purchase of Micros Systems. Oracle also recently launched its Application Orchestrator, which it said was designed to manage the lifecycle of virtualized infrastructure, as part of the push into network function virtualization.
